Nowadays migration in many countries is higher than in others, there are many aspects to consider when people want to stay in the same place while others prefer to live in different places, this essay will show both sides.

First, normally when people do not want to leave their home it is related to the affect that they feel for that place, the sense of community and familiarity, such as, someone can have his best friend in the same street where they grew up, having beautiful memories about their friendship. Now it will be the same for their children. also, considering that they are going to have a very strong support network.

Also, another important consideration in the family, in Latin America family is really important and is very popular that everyone meets in the same place to celebrate whatever they want.

On the other side, cultural exposure used to be one of the principal reasons for the person who wants to live in multiple places, the opportunity to meet different groups of people could enforce their personal growth becoming a worldwide person.

Additionally, the economic aspect is another aspect that people consider when they prefer to migrate, for example, Colombian people is very famous because the migration is high to a different countries looking for better opportunities related to their personal finances and to have success in their careers.

To conclude, one of the principal factors to migrate is the sense of looking forward to a better life mainly when the national conditions are not easy to have a better quality of life. For me, migrating to another country is a hard decision because you have nothing for sure but, if this person doesn't have a job or good possibilities for a better life migrating could be a good idea.

Assessment summary

The essay addresses both views on migration and provides a personal opinion, but it suffers from severe run-on sentences, comma splices, and frequent grammatical errors such as subject-verb agreement mismatches and awkward phrasing. Cohesion is weakened by formulaic transitions and poor sentence boundaries, while lexical range remains limited and repetitive.

Scoring criteria

Task Response 5.5

Strengths

  • The introduction and conclusion acknowledge both perspectives regarding staying in one place versus migrating.
  • The essay includes arguments related to community ties, family gatherings, cultural exposure, and economic motives.

Weaknesses

  • The discussion of both views is somewhat superficial and lacks fully extended concrete examples.
  • The conclusion introduces a slightly new focus on national conditions and career uncertainty rather than summarizing the main body points neatly.

The response addresses all parts of the task and presents a clear position, satisfying the requirements for Band 5.5, but development is limited and somewhat generalized.

Coherence & Cohesion 5.0

Strengths

  • Paragraphs are separated into distinct thematic units addressing the introduction, staying in one place, moving, and the conclusion.

Weaknesses

  • The introductory sentence contains a serious comma splice, linking independent clauses improperly.
  • Logical transitions like 'Also, another important consideration' and repetitive 'Also' usage show mechanical and weak cohesive control.

Although basic paragraph structure is present, severe sentence boundary errors (comma splices and run-ons) disrupt flow and clarity, placing Coherence and Cohesion at Band 5.0.

Lexical Resource 5.0

Strengths

  • Some topic-specific vocabulary such as 'migration', 'community', 'cultural exposure', and 'economic aspect' is used.

Weaknesses

  • Frequent awkward collocations and word choice errors occur, such as 'the affect that they feel' instead of 'affection' or 'attachment'.
  • Repetitive phrasing and limited lexical variety restrict precision throughout the essay.

Vocabulary is sufficient for basic communication but contains noticeable inaccuracies and limitations in academic phrasing, justifying a score of 5.0.

Grammar Range & Accuracy 4.5

Strengths

  • The writer attempts some complex structures, such as conditional and subordinate clauses.

Weaknesses

  • Widespread sentence boundary errors, including comma splices ('...is higher than in others, there are many...') and run-on structures.
  • Frequent subject-verb agreement issues ('Colombian people is very famous') and tense inconsistencies ('Now it will be the same').

The text contains a high density of grammatical and punctuation errors that frequently obscure meaning and require reader effort, fitting Band 4.5.
