Worldwide, transnational corporations have been in a fast growth trend. This generated jobs and boosted GDP. In my view, globalization steers countries towards prosperity, cultural exposure, and opens chances. Hence, I strongly agree that globalization has a favorable effect on participating nations.

Countries before the 20th century had limited exposure to other lands. Thus, it made it impossible for them to welcome foreigners. Yet, globalization altered that viewpoint via multinational institutions. For instance, A business that falls under the multinational umbrella would build factories in both countries, grow profits for both, and both recipients would acquire experience.

That said, other persons might contend that globalization causes harm for the smaller nation whilst benefiting the other. They back their argument by citing low wages and looser labor laws. furthermore, they think that economically, powerful countries use the vulnerability of other countries by compelling them to unfair contracts. I would maintain that strong nations usually take advantage of poor states. Nevertheless, if the poor country is generating employment for the short term whilst acquiring experience for the long term, I believe that the end justifies the means.

In summary, globalization isn't a flawless relationship, and it can be unjust. But would we reject it and leave people below the poor line or accept its side effects and consider the bigger picture? I believe that the overall benefits makes it a fair deal for the long run, Provided that poor states uses the experience they gain through the proccess.

Assessment summary

The essay addresses all parts of the task and presents a clear, consistent position in favor of globalization. The structure is logical, featuring an introduction, body paragraphs addressing both sides, and a conclusion. Cohesion is generally adequate, though some mechanical linkers and reference issues exist. Lexical resource is mixed, featuring some relevant topic vocabulary alongside basic repetition and minor collocation slips. Grammatical control demonstrates a mix of simple and complex structures, but suffers from recurring punctuation, capitalization, and minor subject-verb/agreement errors.

Scoring criteria

Task Response 6.5

Strengths

  • The introduction clearly establishes the writer's position.
  • Both economic benefits and counter-arguments concerning exploitation are acknowledged and discussed.
  • The conclusion restates the author's stance clearly.

Weaknesses

  • Some arguments, such as the example in the second paragraph, rely on broad assertions rather than deep elaboration.
  • The counter-argument discussion includes a slight concession that somewhat blurs the main stance before being re-justified.

The response addresses all parts of the prompt with a clear position and supporting arguments, meeting the requirements for Band 6.5.

Coherence & Cohesion 6.0

Strengths

  • Paragraphs are clearly separated and follow a logical progression from introduction to body points and conclusion.
  • Basic cohesive devices and transition signals (e.g., 'That said', 'In summary') help guide the reader through the argument.

Weaknesses

  • Some cohesive devices are misused or punctuated awkwardly (e.g., starting sentences with lowercase 'furthermore').
  • Reference tracking occasionally feels slightly loose, requiring the reader to infer antecedents.

Information and ideas are generally organized coherently with clear overall progression, though cohesive devices show some mechanical lapses, warranting a 6.0.

Lexical Resource 6.0

Strengths

  • Appropriate topic-specific vocabulary is used, such as 'transnational corporations', 'multinational institutions', and 'GDP'.
  • Attempts at varied phrasing are visible throughout the text.

Weaknesses

  • Some awkward collocations and lexical choices recur (e.g., 'fast growth trend', 'causes harm for').
  • Minor spelling and word formation lapses occur.

The vocabulary is sufficient to allow easy reading with adequate range, but occasional inaccuracies and lack of precision prevent a higher band.

Grammar Range & Accuracy 5.5

Strengths

  • A mix of simple and complex sentence structures is attempted, including conditional clauses.
  • Many clauses remain clear and understandable despite minor slips.

Weaknesses

  • Frequent minor punctuation, capitalization, and article lapses occur throughout the text.
  • Agreement errors and awkward tense control (e.g., 'poor states uses', 'proccess') detract from grammatical accuracy.

While a mix of simple and complex sentences is used, frequent errors in punctuation, capitalization, and basic agreement pull the grammar score down to 5.5.
